S0....I'm watching CTV's Powerplay today and the show closes with "Craig"s Take", a Mercer style rant wherein Craig Oliver weighs in with pithy comment on all things politic.
Today's topic was the heinous treatment of one B. Mulrooney by the current incarnation of the only viable right wing party in this country. I was enthralled!
Craig waxes poetic on the retrospective virtues of said former Prime Minister BM and goes so far as to invoke the ghosts of both John A. and John Diefenbaker. Craig concludes that this generation of conservatives have shamefully abandonded a great leader in Muldoon. The irony is breathtaking.....really.
But the best is yet to come. Craig claims that Harper has moved to distance himself from Muldoon by claiming that Brian doesn't have a membership in the CPC. Muldoon claims that he's a Conservative forever.
Touching.
But here's the kicker.....Craig Oliver credits the "Pundits and the Illuminati" for getting to the bottom of this.
Illuminati?
Hmmmmm................
Craig wouldn't let slip that"professional journo's" play insider baseball? Would he?
Further to that.....Did you happen to notice the absence of audio on the Harper clip? Technical difficulties no doubt.
It almost makes one think that some sort of conspiracy was at hand.

Stopped watching that show, and that reporter long ago.
I don't wish any ill to Mulroney but he's in a pickle because the Media and the Libs kept after him for well over a decade.
Mulroney has much bigger problems, and exponentially more enemies in mediaa and the left.
Harper is the least of Brian's problems.
Power Play is not worth watching, IMHO. Neither is CBC.
We have a real deficit of worthwhile political programing in this country.

True enough...Brian has problems of his own making and looking for friends in the media or the Libs is....well...........futile.

I miss Duffy, watch Clark daily for a laugh and surf to get the facts.
I am also a periodic reader of your blog and appreciate the clarity and tenacity you bring the discourse.

I don't mind Clark so much, but then I only watch the last 15 minutes of the show anyway. Saw him actually shoot down Fife a couple of days ago (when Fife tried to spin Ignatieff as the 'winner' of this Mulroney thing); poor Robert looked like he had been slapped, and Jane looked equally stunned. have to give Clark credit for that one...

I caught that one....I will give Tom credit for swatting the gadflys a bit but you have to remember it was giggles and boob.

To be fair to Tom Clark, I guess it is possible that he has little or no control over 'Craig's Take'.
Craig Oliver seems to have some special kind of entitlement there at CTV. I don't get it. Maybe it's in his contract.
I just completed the book 'Blue Thunder'and comments, like the one from Oliver, are erily similar.
John A,the chief and Mulroney got high marks. So does PMSH though for the most part.
Could it be that perhaps some LIEberals (inc Oliver) have read the book and are creating a new strategy?
I find the whole thing absolutely pathetic but it is what the LIEberals, have done for years. Try to define and wedge, conservatives.
"I find the whole thing absolutely pathetic but it is what the LIEberals, have done for years. Try to define and wedge, conservatives." It's all they've got and they unfortunately do it very well given that many canadians are asleep at the wheel an extremely gullible!
