Susan Delacourt...Obtuse or Self Satarizing?

Susan's latest effort at the TorStar has me posing the above question. It seems Sue snidely dismisses CPC communications that question Michael Ignatieff's claim of being the child of common immigrants.

She then publishes an entirely convincing case which points out the very privileged position the Ignatieff clan has always maintained regardless of where they resided.

An excerpt:

While the Ignatieffs have made the most of their coming to Canada in their respective fields, they have never ceased to enjoy great privilege, as a function of the financial and educational resources and social status they brought with them, and which are theirs to this day. The Ignatieff immigrant experience is one of significant wealth, first-rate educations and privilege. Very few Canadian families can claim this “immigrant experience.”

Hence my question.

OTOH the whole thing could also have been a poorly constructed vehicle to associate Canadian conservatives with those nasty American birthers. More from Sue...

Somewhere in here, they may well be claiming that he was born in Kenya.

Is it just me, or is the main stream media casting aside any pretext of being non-biased?
The absence of critical reporting on how Minister Oda was treated yesterday by Martin, McGuinty and MacKay was very telling! Imagine the uproar if a Conservative had made a disparaging remark to the Kairos lady, that would have been media fodder for weeks!

It reminds me of the time where Pierre Poilievre had to apologize for saying “Tar Baby” but Iggy gets away with saying “Cotton Pickin’ Minute”. The MSM does have a double standard.

Thank you for not posting her picture. Every time I see a post about her I hesitate to click just incase her face is the first thing that pops up! ;-)

I donate to my EDA and the national party, and i have even knocked on a few doors for the Conservatives and Reform.

However there is such a thing as going too far. Whoever authorized this attack on Iggys dead father should be fired. Discussion over.

I believe that what Susan Delacourt publishes under the heading "Michael Ignatieff: Child of immigrants?" is not her own, but what the CPC has put out about Ignatieff. She is leaving it to the reader to judge the validity of the CPC's claims. She says right at the beginning "This blog doesn't usually reprint Conservative talking points ... but I would like to draw your attention to ... the governing party's response to an ad today about Michael Ignatieff and his family." Perhaps it's not Susan Delcourt who's obtuse here.

Wendy

Thanks for dropping by.

You obviously noticed the ambiguity I utilized in identifying the source.

Point is Sue attempted to link "The Harper Government" to " Birthers".

That and the fact she didn't know the difference twixt UCC and LCC....make your own conclusions.

I wrote a rather long response that seems to have disappeared! Briefly, it was to say that it wasn't Susan Delacourt who made the error about LCC, it was the CPC-sponsored website. See http://www.ignatieffselection.com/feature/michael-ignatieff-child-of-immigrants/

Delacourt was merely reporting what they said after her two introductory paragraphs.
